Treasure Map VIII
Great Skyrim Treasure Hunt Guide
This walkthrough guide for The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim serves to assist players in finding Treasure Map VIII and the associated Treasure Chest as part of the series of unmarked objectives known collectively as The Great Skyrim Treasure Hunt.
The maps that make up the treasure hunt can be found in various locations around Skyrim. Each of these chests are filled with an assortment of leveled valuables, the worth of which is determined by your current character level.
Treasure Map VIII Location: Secondary Location – Hunter’s Last Stand: Seashore of Ghosts (Winterhold)
Treasure Chest Location: Dragon Bridge
Note: Remember you can only find the treasure chest once you have retrieved the proper map to begin with. You cannot skip ahead and try to head to the chest without first finding the map, as it will not be there.
Finding Treasure Map VIII
Hunter’s Last Stand: Seashore of Ghosts
In order to find Treasure Map VIII, your best and easiest route will be to travel to the capital city of Winterhold and travel southeast out of the city until you reach the Journeyman’s Nook location, being a relatively easy and unobstructed path of travel. Once there or at least around this location, travel northeast a bit so you make a check-mark like path and look for a path that heads down to the water’s edge below, otherwise known as the Sea Shore of Ghosts. The path down to the water should be easily seen from the world map right next to this primary location, as long as cloud cover permits.
From there, you will notice a large island in the middle of the water which is home to Bleakcoast Cave, the entrance to which sits on the east side, or 3 o’clock position of said island. Head directly east from the entrance to this cave, or just wing it based on these directions, and travel and swim a bit until you come across a trio of Horkers which stand in a circle around a pair of fallen hunters. This cluster will mark the secondary location of Hunter’s Last Stand. Just fight of the belligerent walrus like creatures and loot the corpses to find Treasure Map VIII located on one of the unfortunate chaps.
Finding Treasure Chest VIII
Dragon Bridge
To find the Treasure Chest associated with Treasure Map VIII you will need to head to the town of Dragon Bridge which is a ways southwest of Solitude. To get to this location there are two relatively easy paths you can take. The first would be to take a horse carriage from any stable you have been to and pay a small bit to get to Solitude or fast travel there if you have unlocked the primary location already. From there you can take the major road that heads southwest out of the capital city, which actually has you starting at Katla’s Farm if you took the carriage, and just follow it until you reach the town.
Option number two comes in the form of travelling to Morthal in either of the two ways mentioned above, via fast travel or carriage and head northwest, passing by the Apprentice Stone and coming from the other side of the town which will bring you to the actual bridge the town is named after.
Once at Dragon Bridge, get on the notable bridge’s east side, opposite of the town itself and find the path just to its north that leads down to the river that passes underneath the bridge. From this path you will enter the water and turn right, heading a short way north up the river and find the chest hidden among some underwater plant growth and likely guarded by a Slaughterfish or two which you can probably just ignore unless you are a seriously low level. Check the pictures to the right for a series of shots that will help you with uncovering it’s exact location if you need any help here.
Important Note on Unlocking the Chest
(Finding The Key)
Meow Gallery: The layout none is not available in this version.
It should be noted that this chest actually, unlike the others, is locked and a pretty high level. If you need the key to open it and find yourself unable to lock-pick or just don’t want to bother doing so, there is a nearby satchel you can find for said key.
Its pretty easy to find, just look for a small group of trees on the same opposite side of the bridge as instructed above, just south of the bridge itself. You will find the satchel next to a lantern, both of which are propped up against one of these trees. See the pictures to the right for a good view of them.
