A Miner’s Gold
Event Location Guide
This guide will cover the A Miner’s Gold event in Diablo III, providing information on how to complete and find it. Events like this are essentially small mini quests that often provide gold, experience, and sometimes item rewards for completing a short task or series of closely related ones.
How to Find ‘A Miner’s Gold’ in the Howling Plateau
This event is one of three that seems to spawn in a given spot in the Howling Plateau, just to the left of the road which passes through the region, right as it makes a sharp bend before turning into the Black Canyon Bridge. In order to make repeated runs of this location with ease, you can simply take the Back Canyon Mine waypoint and run south along the road until you get to this sharp bend. Also make sure to check the pictures for its approximate location.
This one tile (spot where events or other locations can spawn) shares a rotation with two others, one being a large group of cultists and a cellar with a unique spawn, the other a frightened girl who leads you into a cultist attack. The run itself is pretty quick, so this event is somewhat easy to farm even if you don’t know the lay of the land to well.
There are also three different versions of the same hilltop which has the event, the two non event ones being one with no miner and just a lever and the chest for you to pull up on your own sans enemies, or the lever with a dead adventurer on the lift itself instead of the chest.
Once found, head up to the top of the hill the event spawns on and talk to the Crazed Miner to start things up.
There is an achievement for completing this event and another specifically for doing so in co-op.
A Miner’s Gold
“There’s a treasure chest down here. Watch my back while I haul it up! Then we can split the rewards.”
– Crazed Miner
Protect the Crazed Miner
With promises of great fortune to be had, it’s time to watch this guy’s hide while he works on fiddling with the lift controls and you engage in lethal combat with the demons of hell. Fair trade, right? As Diablo 3 goes, it is, since you’ll only have to fight a few handfuls of enemies for a resplendent chest.
At first you will be attacked by a group of 13 or so Fallen which are summoned from the ground, an easy challenge without a doubt.
“I think I got it! Yes, I got it! No, still stuck.”
– Crazed Miner
The second and final wave will consist of two pairs of Fallen Shamans, the second pair which spawns so after the first is killed, or just shortly after time wise. They will quickly start to revive the other Fallen to build up their numbers. However, if you can rush the summoners before they get much time to do their work, it’s a complete steam roll on your part. Once these are down the chest will be yours.
“Thanks! I’ll take my share, and you can have what’s left!”
– Crazed Miner
Contrary to his words, the miner won’t open the Resplendent Chest, waiting for you to open it before running off without taking anything, or at least any of your items. There is no experience or gold bonus reward for this event, and it just seems to fade away once the chest is up, but you probably won’t notice anyways with a large, golden, glowing chest staring at you.
