Originally encountered in the beginning of Act I, just as Haedrig loses his wife Mira to the infection which is turning civilians of Tristram into walking zombies. The achievement name for his conversations are akin to his personality, as Haedrig is pretty slow to open up about his life, and often wishes to be left alone rather than talk about his past.
Shen is the most talkative character by far, also being your artisan Jeweler after discovering him locked away in a barrel in the Waterlogged Passage Act II. Although he might seem like a babbling loon at first, he is actually one of the most mysterious and intriguing people who join your cause.
Kormac is a Templar of The Order, an organization dedicated to purging evil from Sancturary, whom is rescued by the player, as he is trapped by the dark cultists there, from within the Cathedral during Act I. He is a well disciplined holy warrior who holds honor in the highest regards, which puts him at odds with the Scoundrel Lyon, causing them to bicker frequently.
Leah is the niece of Deckard Cain, who is the first main character you encounter after arriving in New Tristram. At her behest, you are tasked with saving her uncle, who was trapped in the nearby cathedral when Tyrael plummeted out of the sky, crashing into it.
He is one of three followers which can be enlisted by the player during solo games of Diablo 3. A thief by trade, there is more to him than the brash, egotistical persona he puts on at first. Talking to him enough will uncover his own troubled past and the scars which have made him cold by nature.
Tyrael is the archangel of justice, a noble being who has helped mankind significnatly in the past and returns to do so again in Diablo 3. When challenged for his willingness to assist the humans, Tyrael choses to shed himself of his wings, purposefully falling from Heaven to warn humanity of the impending doom that comes to Sanctuary.
