Age of Empires III: Campaign Guides

This walkthrough and strategy guide will cover all three acts of the campaign in the PC game Age of Empires 3. There are eight total missions in each of the three acts that the campaign of AoE 3 is split into. Within you will find videos walkthroughs along with additional pictures and tips for how to win every mission on the Hard difficulty.

How to Follow This Guide

In each text section, you will find hints and tips governing the general flow of the mission, which tasks you need to perform and the order which is best to do so in. You can find some additional info here that can help when combined with the additional resources presented. Objectives are listed in the order to perform them rather than the order they are presented to you in-game.

Above each section, you can find pictures detailing the topics covered in the text portion, which can help point out important items or events.

Below each section you will find a video walkthrough of that mission with audio commentary, providing the most detailed step-by-step guide.

This guide and its videos were written as though played on the Hard difficulty which is the highest setting in the game. This is done so that these same strategies presented here will work on the easier settings if they are more your style.

Act I: Blood

Throughout Act I of the campaign of this game, you will command the forces of the Knights of St. John, under the command of Morgan Black as he is tasked with travelling to the new world in search of a powerful artifact under command of Alain.

Act II: Ice

Taking place in colonial America, Act II of the game’s story follow’s John Black, grandson of Morgan Black and his native friend Kanyenke as they fight against the devious plans of one British General named Warwick. Your travels will take you from the east coast through to the western frontier as you work to stop the General.

Act III Important Force Composition Info:

The forces i use primarily (90+%) are made up entirely of Musketeers supported by Heavy Cannons, produced by Factories with the exception of the occasional built Mortar or Falconet. This can be important to keep in mind in order to achieve the same results I mention here. When combined with the Advanced Arsenal card, unit upgrades from the Barracks, and all the Infantry upgrades the Advanced Arsenal, Musketeers can become pretty incredible given their cost. Every time I reach the fourth age, I also make sure to choose the Factory in order to have two of the buildings (including a Factory sent by card) pumping out cannon or supplementing needed resources.

Act III: Steel
